Recall alert The CPSC said about 39,000 John Deere ZTrak Zero Turn Mowers with Kawasaki engines have been recalled. (cpsc.gov)

The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of 39,000 John Deere mowers.

The mowers have Kawasaki engines that can fail while being used or stored, overheating and posing a burn or fire hazard, the CPSC said.

The recall affects some John Deere ZTrak Zero Turn Mowers with the following model and serial numbers:

Z720E

  • Starting serial number: 1TC720E****010001
  • Ending serial number: 1TC720E****080657

Z730M

  • Starting serial number: 1TC730M****010001
  • Ending serial number: 1TC730M****080574

Z740R

  • Starting serial number: 1TC740R****010001
  • Ending serial number: 1TC740R****080462

Z760R

  • Starting serial number: 1TC760R****080001
  • Ending serial number: 1TC760R****080339

The model number is printed on the front of the mower below the seat while the serial number is on the right side of the mower near the rear tire.

They were sold nationwide from October 2018 to September 2024 for between $8,000 and $11,500, the CPSC said.

If you have the recalled mower, you should stop using it and contact an authorized John Deere dealer for a repair.
