BOSTON — A home health aide said a man she had been caring for two years stabbed her more than 30 times over the weekend.

The woman, who wanted to be anonymous, said it happened on Saturday morning when she went to visit her 70-year-old client. She told WFXT that the man would get angry frequently but never violent.

She said that the man woke up in the middle of the night, asking what time it was before he grabbed a knife.

“He came back with the knife. He started to get me with the knife,” she said. “I was screaming, help, help!”

She said he stabbed and slashed her while she sat on a recliner, kicking and thrashing to get up.

“I got up and I fell down, and that’s when he started stabbing me in the back,” she said. “I said, that’s it. I can’t anymore. I was tired. I’m going to die,” she told WFXT.

She said thinking of her family gave her the strength to get up and fight back.

“I pushed him. I ran to the door, and I escaped.”

Boston Police said the man then chased the woman with a piece of wood and that he had tried to hit a security guard with it.

The man ended up hitting his head and had to be taken to an area hospital.

The man was not yet identified but is expected to be arraigned on various charges.

As for the home nurse aide, she is home after spending a couple of days in a hospital where she had blood transfusions and dozens of stitches, WFXT reported.

She also said that her 10 years as a home health aide have come to an end.

“I like to help people. That’s why I did it,” she added. “They treat you like nothing. This is a hard job. Nobody wants to do this job.”
