About the artist

One of the unlikeliest success stories in rock at the turn of the millennium, Detroit rap-rocker Kid Rock shot to superstardom with his fourth full-length album, 1998's Devil Without a Cause. What made it so shocking was that Rock had recorded his first demo a full decade before, been booted off... more

I am soooooo sick of this song!! It was good at first, but it seems like I still hear it every 2 minutes! To each his own i guess...
  • what gives
Hey real what are you some jerk? If you love the Dixie chicks go buy their CD, then at least someone would.

And Rowdy thank god you don’t play their hate music.
  • How 'Bout Full Disclosure Here?
All of us at K-99.1 here now fully believe that "Real" is an employee of a competing radio station. Therefore from now into the future, we will no longer entertain or comment on his rants.

Anyone who would like to discuss music or have a question is more than welcome to contact me during business hours. My number is 937-259-2074.
  • k99 edits and censors country music
    rowdy j,

if k99 is not "redefining" country music as you say then why does k99 feel it necessary to change this song to a "remix" version. I'll tell you why, it wasn't country and you know it so you had to change it thinking someone would believe you. We'll we're not buying it.

On top of that not only are you redefining what is country, you're censoring it too.

Everyone knows that people have forgiven the Dixie Chicks and actually want to hear songs like "Cowboy Take Me Away" and some of their biggest hits.

yet you censor true country like that.

    talk about hypocrisy
  • Your "facts" don't fit reality
I've never said Kid Rock's song fits the "stereotypical" image of a country song. Neither did Linda Ronstadt's "It's So Easy", nor, for it's time, the Eagles "Lyin' Eyes". Both got lots of airplay on Dayton's big country station in the 70's. (Their
Program Director confirmed that to me.)

Billboard? R& R? You know darned well some of those charts are determined by a panel of 200 Program Directors out of 4,000 country radio stations. That's why the record labels curry up to them. But, that's hardly a determining factor of what listeners want to hear.

Aaron Tippin? Yep. He's country for sure. Known him for many years and am pleased to be an acquaintance. If you look on our homepage, we're bringing him to town for a FREE concert at the annual Air Force "Freedom's Call - Tattoo" in June.

What you don't get - is we're not trying to "redefine" country music. We just want to play what our listeners want to hear. They should determine that. Not you, not me, not Nashville politics or anything else.
  • I believe fact not hearsay Rowdy
the fact that you associate Kid Rock with Garth Brooks proves the lack of knowledge you have on what is real country music.

    1. Kid Rock never reached #1 on any Country Music Chart. Billboard doesn't lie.

    2. I question the validity of your "listening audience", let's just say you're missing a huge chunk of the Miami Valley and springfield area who love COUNTRY MUSIC.

    3. your attempts to redefine what is country music are foolish at best. This town loves artists like Crystal Gale and Aaron Tippin and other real artists.

you may not want to admit it but it's hypicritical for a station to say they play today's best country and continue to play Kid Rock.
  • Hey, Real...Get Real!
Whether you care to believe it or not, the latest research from K-99.1's listening audience of over 186-thousand country fans in the Miami Valley has this song at #1 for 9 straight months. If it continues, this song could be the Song Of The Decade. (BTW: the last time this happened was with a little known artist at the time named Garth, with "The Dance".)

Country music, and the country audience have changed. If it's not your cup of tea...that's OK with me. You can always fill an i-Pod with your T Graham Brown favorites, Mr. R.
  • you guys still don't get it
I can see that the powers that be continue to stray away from being a country music station by playing this song. Maybe rowdy j and k99 need to read this

    http://www.newwest.net/topic/article/put_some_kid_rock_in_your_country/C564/L564/

there's a huge market for a station that plays country music all the time. Not some station that plays rock and roll from a drug addicted rapper.

k99 and rowdy j should know better
  • Horrible song!
I do not like this song!!! I am so so very sick of hearing it! Please give it a rest and STOP playing it please!!!! I let my daughter listen to k99 when so goes to bed and I don't like her to listen to this song! My best friends says she agrees with me.
  • Kid Rock Remix
    Hi, Mary:

I'm happy to hear you like our version of the song. However, the remix was done internally and in-house. Because of that, U.S. copyright law forbids us from distributing it.

However, because you like the song, we'll be glad to play it for you!
  • kid rock
i love his song all summer long he has a nice body
  • Kid Rock - All Summer Long
I love this version!! Where can you buy it? Can we down load from k99 web-site?
  • Kate in Fairborn
    Hi, Kate:

  • Rowdy!
Hey Rowdy, how do I get asked to pick the music you guys play? I still love this song and want you to keep playing it? Can you help me out?
  • An open letter to K99.1 Fans
If you read down several posts, you'll note I published the number of my office phone and offered to speak personally with some of these posters.
So far, no one has taken me up on the offer, so we assume here that most of these anti-kid posts are coming from employees of other radio stations.
  • Man, I think you're confused
K-99.1 does ongoing continued research on the music we play every month of every year. That's where we get those chart figures from. You don't have to believe it if you don't want to, but the numbers are here - and they don't lie. I have no contact with Kid Rock, or his record company. In fact, I don't even know the name of the record company.

Hey, Jacob - I'm from Miamisburg, too. You wouldn't be the son of a guy I once worked with?
  • yeah I stand by it
Rowdy I know lots of people who are sick and tired of hearing this song. It was good at first but like it seems you always do it gets overplayed. I don't know if Kid Rock is paying you to play his music or what but I defy your notion that it's a top 5 song. Where do you ask thousands of listeners their opinions? You certainly don't seem to care about either Qiana or my opinion.

face it you have a vested intrest in Kid Rock being successful
  • An agenda????????
    Jacob:
K99.1 asks thousands of listeners each month what they think about the music.
The Kid Rock song is still in the top 5. When the research shows it's time to back off on the song, we will. I have no agenda, period...we only want to play the music that the majority of our listeners say they want us to play.

How do I explain you two? No song is completely approved by 100% of the people 100% of the time.
  • I Agree Rowdy's Full of it
I've just read all these comments and I too think this song has been way overplayed it's old. Qiana's right let it rest.

And I don't want to hear about "it's highly rated among listeners" from Rowdy J. he's got an agenda and he doesn't have any proof. If listeners love it so much then how do you explain Qiana and I? chew on that Rowdy. It's time for new music.
  • this song
I am sick of this song. it was a summer anthem. let it rest please!
  • thanks rowdy!
we're counting on you and your Nashville friends to make it happen. I hope Kid Rock someday has you on stage with him.

p.s. I love the K99 version of the song. Keep it up!
  • Kid Rock in Dayton
I'm aware that he was here in Dayton about a year ago (a friend of mine took his son to the show)...I wouldn't be surprised to see him back in the area before the end of 2009.
  • hey rowdy J.
I know you have a lot of pull in country music circles. Please can you and Nancy get Kid Rock to come to Dayton??? He truly does rock! Thanks for having the guts to play a great country song k99!
  • The American What????
Hey...instead of this back and forth, if you really want to discuss this, call
259-2074. I'll be happy to talk country with you :)
  • one more thing.......
i think you guys would get laughed out of the American Classic record collectors convention in Nashville.
  • Hater
Your welcome to your opinion. However, the majority of K-99.1 listeners disagree with you. And I don't think posting this rant over and over is going to change that. But, feel free to post.

The song has the highest positive response of any song in the history of K-99.1 - and that's a lot of "country" music in 20 years time.
  • i don't care,he still sucks!
kid rocks sucks he should crawl back under the rock he came out from.he doesn't belong on country radio,or in that fact ANYWHERE!
  • Kid Rock
Real good southern style song. Little more rock but there is some good rock out country songs out there. Little bit over played but still real good.
  • Allow Me A Clarification
Before I get called out on this one, I wanted to clarify:

Conway Twitty, Waylon Jennings, Brenda Lee and, of course Jerry Lee Lewis were the "rock" artists I mentioned who crossed over to country. Patsy Cline was a country act that "crossed over" to pop when her hits were released. I didn't want someone misconstruing my remarks to suggest that, somehow, Patsy was a rock artist. That was not the case.

And since today is his birthday, let's not forget how many "country" hits Elvis Presley had. You could hardly not forget he, too, is the King of Rock and Roll.
  • j gets it right.
our local 'redneck' bar (i mean that with respect since I am a local patron) added kid rock along side hank. when it hits the jukebox at my place, you know it's good home cookin country.

rowdy - can you call me? it's randy from trotwood.

i think mr. j hit it on the head.
  • "All Summer Long" remix
We've heard from a number of people who are interested in finding our remix of "All Summer Long".

Unfortunately, the version you hear on K-99.1 was produced in-house. So, we couldn't "release" it without falling afoul of U.S. copyright laws.

But, keep listening - we'll keep playing it.
  • Oh, Yeah...I forgot
Don't forget to add Jerry Lee Lewis's name to the list of those who were rock stars, before country.

What do I think he'd think about Kid Rock? Well, having met Jerry Lee Lewis backstage with two buxom blondes on either side of him, I think he'd be partying with Kid Rock.

By the way, unless I missed something, Kid has performed with Hank, Jr. You wanna tell me Bocephus isn't country?
  • No I didn't miss the point
It's fine with me if you want to perpetuate the over 40 year old argument about what "is" or "is not"
country. But, it is not the place of any radio station to determine that - it's up to the listeners, and the majority of K-99's listeners like the Kid Rock song. End of story.

You're welcome to your opinion, I respect that, but you're in the minority.

By the way, you do know that Conway Twitty, Waylon Jennings and Brenda Lee were both former rock musicians, right?
And Patsy Cline was a crossover pop act?
They moved to country after rock left them...the same reason artists such as Kid Rock and The Eagles have moved toward country today.

Oh yeah: If I had to list the number of country stars who've gotten in a bar fight sometime in their lives, the list would be too long to print here.
  • Rowdy misses the big point.
you all miss the point...rowdy....what do you think these artists would think about Kid Rock's nonsense? Tell me and look at my wish list of great artists

  • Rowdy
rowdy, i hear what you are sayin' about country music....i can appreicate your explanation it makes sense..but i read one time that kid rock hit a guy at a bar for no reason...how does this "jive" with your family friendly image?

Please call me or write here.

PS. where are you brodcasting live next/ I would love to meet you.
  • Agree
I agree with all the pro Kid comments. I think it's a great song and "southern" style which is kind of country.

I also have met many of the K99 Dj's ..Rowdy J...Glenn Moore...Nancy Wilson....Norm Kelly at the check cashing place and they are very nice. I was lucky to spin the wheel and get a t-shirt which i wear proudly.

shout out to: Tom Poling at Piqua Elks #189 post.
  • Special Song?
I purchased the album for Kid Rock, but didn't have the version that is played on k99. I prefer the K99 version. can you purchase this someplace? anyone? help? Rowdy J's? Nancy? Kerigeen? Glenn Moore?

My compliments to Rowdy Nancy and Glenn..I had the pleasere of meeting all three at check smart and they were very nice and i appreciate it.
  • this song does indeed rock
always remember and never forget, "sing sweet home alabama all summer long." Rowdy J can you get me a Kid Rock shirt? for your party crew at Shelby County Moose Lodge? Roll out the barrell - we'll have a barrell of fun
  • Kid Rock deserved to be the #1 song on K99 for 2008. When we first heard it at the lake. we thought it was perfect for summer. even now i still turn it up everytime i hear it. Why isn't it country? Sweet home alabema is played on country radio stations in alabama..i know i lived there. it's raw..it's country...it's today's music. rap? I don't hear rap in the song.

Give em heck Rowdy J...and if you're in the hood - come party with the beach boy clan at indian lake. yes we do party in winter with K and Rowdy JJJ!
  • Kid Rock
While I can appreciate "Kid Rock Haters" feelings, for "Hater" to make the charge "He is a frickn drunk druggy loser" is a bit disengenuous.

If you know your country music history (which, having been in it since the mid-70's I do), then, of course, you know:

George Jones: An admitted alcoholic and admitted former cocaine abuser. (Read his book, "I Lived To Tell It All"

Hank Williams, Sr.: Died from alcohol abuse.

Johnny Cash: An admitted former pill popper.

Times have changed, I agree in country.
But what's "country" and what's "not" is in the eyes of the fans. It is not for the radio station to decide.
  • he looks like a druggy

Some of y'all need to call a waaambulence and quit cryin! It's a good song and isn't going to ruin anything. Kid Rock will just fade out when the song is played out...

  • Sux
I cant believe you guys play this song, Kid rock isnt country I dont care what you say and this song with the sweet home alabama in it is just plan wrong. that song was a classic, and not country and now with this filth singing it just sickens me good job at loosing a loyal listener just like the rest I use to listen to z93 back in the day and 102.9 and they went to rap crap and now you guys.
  • Kid Rock
ok I have read some of the other comments but I need too post my own, sweet home was a classic and now it is ruined by this wanna be rapper. I dont care if he now says he sings country he is not a country singer, to me he has and will always be a crappy singer that has sung crap music, thats right rap is crap. everytime this song is played i stop listening to this station its an insult to country music. please stop playing this crappy song.
  • Kid Rock
I have never liked kid rock but this new song of his is really awesome. I think this nice change for him.
  • `
I LOVE this song its Kid Rock's best song!
  • Sensoring Songs
Really!!!! What makes K99.1 the Moral police and can determine what is acceptable. Sensoring the word "Smoked" in the new Kid Rock song is just silly! It's just like the Toby Keith song you all sensored when it came out. We are all big boys and girls. If there is anything that may offend out delicate nature, we'll turn it off!!! Freedom of Choice, What a concept.!! Sensors at K99+++Grow up, adult hood is really cool. YOU get to make your own decisions!!!!
  • Kid Rock
I'm not much of a Kid Rock fan, but I love his All Summer Long song!!!
  • Kid Rock Rocks Country
I LOVE this song!!! He has a great voice when he is singing country (don't care for his other music) He Rocks Country!!!
  • Kid Rock
I have never liked RAP. I almost quit going to my favorite redneck bar when they first put him on the jukebox. But I have really got to like his music, at least some of it, since he hooked up with Hank Jr.
All Summer Long is great, so is Rock & Roll Jesus.
If you don't like Kid Rock, you can kiss my A*# !
That is a Hank Jr. quote!
  • Kid Rock
I agree that this is a country music channel and Kid Rock is far from country. I have been a fan of your station for years. If you start steering away from country and keep playing rock music I will have to listen to another country channel.
  • ALL SUMMER LONG
I can't believe you guys are sensoring the word "smoking" when you play this song. That's just a bit overboard if you ask me.
  • its a good song i hope you guys play it more and i think its populatiy will grow the more you play it
  • Today was the first time I ever heard this song, I LOVED IT!! Really got me going at work today! Keep playin it!
  • Kid Rock
Ok I like Kid Rock don't get me wrong, but he is not country! I couldn't believe K99.1 would play a Kid Rock Song. I personally don't like this song!
  • All Summer Long
This has become one of my favorite songs! Great job Kid Rock!!
