I'm Steve Kerrigan and I was born and raised in Ohio. My parents live within earshot of K99.1FM. I've worked in Columbus, Ohio for WLVQ (Q-FM96) and hosted a Morning show in Dayton Ohio on WTUE- The "Kerrigan and Christopher Morning Show" with partner Christopher Geisen. We were paired for 12 years. In 1990, we were named "Personalities of the Year" for the Summit Broadcasting Chain. I know it sounds like I'm bragging but actually I'm quite proud of the achievement. Most recently I was doing mornings at a radio station in Fort Wayne IN. I've been active in the communities that I have lived in and with local charities. I served as a co-chair for the MS 150 Bike Tour for 14 years, and was once frozen in a block of ice for two days to raise food for the American Red Cross. I was a member of the Victory Team in Death Valley California for the Century Bike tour for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
Personal Stuff: My radio career has afforded me many opportunities. I have done shows in New York City from Comedy Central, in Las Vegas from the Radio Music Awards, twice from Disney World and once at Universal Studios and Sea World in Florida. I have met some of the biggest names in music and entertainment and truly live the dream everyday.
I attended the University of Dayton, and spent my junior and senior years working for the rock station FM 100 WVUD. I have three children, who are my biggest fans.
Favorite Music: I like older stuff from Jackson Browne, Eagles, country from Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney and Rascal Flatts.
Hobbies: I'm a huge sports fan. Notre Dame Football and UD basketball are my passions. Love the NFL. My favorite teams are the Bengals in the AFC and The Redskins in the NFC; just don't tell my brother Mike because he works for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
I hope to get back to the game of golf. I once enjoyed a 10 handicap. I'm an avid bicyclist now but I used to play high school sports and college basketball.
Heroes: My parents of course for their continued love and support. Lance Armstrong who's drive and determination has transcended his success in sports to inspire hundreds of thousands of cancer patients to LIVESTRONG everyday. His story has truly helped me through some trying times.
What others are saying
- Pink WarriorDear Steve,
I've read about your battle with cancer and am a cancer warrior also. Godspeed to you my friend! I wanted to tell you about a special song and a special event that happens right here in Ohio. I had the opportunity to recently meet in person an up-and-coming country star by the name of Candy Coburn. She has a single out right now called "Pink Warrior" and all the proceeds go to the Komen Foundation for breast cancer research. I was able to get several autographed copies of her CD single and plan to use them at our event called "Hooves For A Cure" that takes place at Caesars Creek horseman's camp this year on October 3rd. Last year, we had 57 riders and we raised over $2,000.00! These rides take place all over the nation, and the grand total last year was $10,000.00! We can do it again this year and hope to raise even more. Please, if you can, play Candy's single. It will mean a lot to all of us "Pink Warriors" out there who are fighting to end this horrible disease. Thanks! :) - You are a SurvivorI too am a Breast Cancer survivor 2007. You defeated the odds, which is an inspiration to all of us, thanks you. Keep that positive attitude and hang in there.
