Get ready for a "humdinger" American Idol finale!

No real surprise is it that the American Idol finale is down to the two Davids? I've been a David Cook supporter from the first time I saw him! Don't want the Monchichi to win. First, tho Archie needs to dump Daddy dearest :) Some random thoughts...(ain't hey all?)...Simon is delish in his little white shirt...but probably was rocking more cleavage than Paula. Hate the stupid group song...only Syesha really did well, then she gets kicked off! Anyone else scared by Fantasia? The red hair and fullback shoulders on top of the backup hootchie dancers were enough to make Simon look frightened. Can't deny she has great pipes, but why is she so, so, Grace Jones like? (thanks Mike!)

Show ends after visits home where everyone is crying, including DC. Simon says the DC/DA finale will be a "humdinger" or in Simon-ese a "hum-dinga." Can't wait!

See you at Fricker's on Woodman Drive Wednesday at 8 to watch DC win together right??

xoxox,

Nancy

p.s. does anyone think Archie sometimes sounds like Napoleon Dynamite? Gosh! Just askin'!

American Idol---is it over yet?

Can't believe I'm about to admit this, knowing what a huge American Idol fan I've been from year one...but I'm not gonna be sad when this season is over. I do adore David Cook, and hope he wins, but I don't feel "fierce" about it, you know? Not like when it was Taylor verus Kat or Carrie versus Bo. Even last year, although I was hoping Blake would pull it out over Jordin, I was just blah. Why is that? Maybe because I'm tired of the Ryan/Simon catfighting or the Paula dopey moments or that Randy needs to learn more words other than "dawg" and "hawt." Maybe because there's no real stories or personalities to sink my teeth into. No Kellie Pickler or Bucky Covington or dare I say it? Sanjaya.

So, we're down to the final 3..the two Davids and Syesha. I'd love a Syesha/DC finale, but I'm thinking it will be the double D's. Go David Cook! Last night's performances were kind of lackluster, I kept waiting for the "wow" moment ---where's this year's Fantasia "Summertime" or Kat "Over the Rainbow" or Carrie "Alone?" Maybe they're waiting til the finale. Maybe that "I am your brother" guy will be back...At least he is fun.

Numbers are down for Idol, if you call 22-million viewers "down." But, like anything that's been around for seven years, a tune-up would be in order. If I were King, here's what I'd do...shorten those stupid auditions to two weeks instead of four. How many painfully bad singers do we need? Get to the final 24 faster, then either take the final 12 on tour or just eliminate to the final 10 from the start. Don't wear the kids out...they have to have some downtime. Both Davids look exhausted...is it worth it? Oh yeah, make the results show 30 minutes...Ryan can still have his drama and we won't have the suffer thru stupid filler...although I do like the viewer questions...but it doesn't last long enough for me...it's all about Ryan you know!

All this being said, you know I will be glued to the tube...I can't miss it and I won't stop voting...

We're doing it again...American Idol Finale Party with Fox 45 next Wednesday, thanks to our friends at Fricker's on Woodman Drive! Make your signs and come watch with us..it all starts at 8!!

"Told you so" about Archie's Dad! Banned from backstage!

Remember a while ago, when I told you Naomi Judd had revealed what a "stage dad" Jeff Archuletta was during "Star Search Junior?" Now, he's been booted from backstage on Idol!

http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/news/2008-05-11-archuleta-dad-ban_N.htm?loc=interstitialskip

Will this all backfire for Archie? Not my fave as you know...now it's so apparent he's just a puppet and his creepy Dad is using him...ewwww!

Tomorrow night, the final three, Archie, Syesha and David Cook, sing three songs each..Go DC!

Was Rascal "flatt?"

Hope you had a great Mother's Day! I think my Mom did...got her a white lilac bush. She LOVES lilacs...her next door neighbor Carolyn was my "little birdie" and gave me the idea...props to Carolyn!

Anyhoo...took my friend Ginger to see Rascal Flatts Saturday night at the Nutter Center, along with a gazillion other peeps for the sold out show. The guys had been scheduled in February, but had to cancel cause Gary was sick. Dunno about you, but I was left wondering if he was sick again Saturday. Granted, it was the last show on this tour, but Gary LeVox, who is the lead singer and to me, most dynamic of he, Jay Demarcus and Joe Don Rooney, spent quite a bit of the show sitting on his butt on stage. Like I said, maybe Gary was sick again. He sounded great, but bass player Jay did most of the talking...huh? It's true, and too much singing if you ask me. There's a reason Gary is the lead singer, Jay, he's better, so pipe down ok? The guys were pretty loosey goosey, being their last show and all, but still did a stellar job. The high point? Their tribute to the military during, "He Ain't the Leaving Kind" the guys brought out full dressed Marines. That was awesome! The only downside, Kellie Pickler didnt' make it back this time...she musta been too busy fishing for SAL-mun.

Jason goes up in a puff of smoke (he wishes!)

Anyone surprised that Jason got the boot on American Idol last night? The poor kid has been practically begging to be sent home for the past several weeks. He even admitted he was in way over his dread-locked head. I think JC just wanted to have a good time and didn't realize how crazy Idol can get....check out this video from Tuesday night's performance.

http://www.tmz.com/tmz_main_video?titleid=1542755414

A spy at the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" taping this week caught this...and producers slowed down the tape of "A.I" where Ryan is reading the phone numbers and Jason mouths what looks like, "Don't vote." Some people at TMZ think he might be saying, "vote, vote," but it's pretty clear to me he was asking to be sent home...so now it's down to Archie, David Cook and Syesha...you know who I want to win, don't you?

Tell me what you think Jason is saying...

Down to the final four on American Idol and the kids get to choose songs from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. David Cook, my boy, picks Hungry like the Wolf and Baba O'Riley. Songs from Duran Duran and the Who. I'm totally down with that since I own every Who record (didn't know that, huh?) and I've seen DD a gazillion times in concert. I do agree with the judges...DD not so great, Who song goosebump city! Then Syesha does Proud Mary and A Change is Gonna Come...first one ick, second one...amazing....then Jason...let's just say he should go home..he clearly doesn't be in the race, if he ever did. Archie kicked some booty...don't like him, but gotta give him props! So, for the first time ever, I find myself switching back and forth from Idol to Dancing with the Stars during the performances! I was really wondering how Rascal Flatts would be able to go from the Idol set to performing on DWTS, but since the stages are next door to each other, they pulled it off. So, Mario went home on Dancing, who goes home on Idol? I'm scared for my David....this is when Daughtry, Tamyra Gray, Latoya London and Constantine all got sent home. I just hope it's Jason. But gotta give props to Paula...she was actually focused last night!

After an extremely loooooooonnnngggggggggggg, emotional week for moi, (no need to go into details, just take my word for it!), I'm looking forward to this weekend, and believe it or not, this coming Monday! This weekend is the Kentucky Derby, and my man and I haven't missed it, at least on TV, in all the years we've been together...this year, we're going! At least, I think we are...he says it's surprise. But if you're looking for Derby fun at home or in KY, go to http://party.kentuckyderby.com/ to get snack ideas on mint juleps or derby pie! Or just go to Mehaffie's! They're Derby pie (chocolate pecan) is da bomb!

Monday, I'm going to see my accountant dude cause he says I need to put my money in a better place?! After that, it's Cinco De Mayo!! Which, literally means, the 5th of May....if you're looking for some fun stuff to do...there's big Cinco parties at Adobe Gila's at the Greene, Pepito's on Wilmington Avenue, (my fave Mexican place), also Fricker's (any of them--I know it's not Mexican, but I like it), Three Amigos on Dixie, or La Fiesta in Troy. No matter where you go...you have GOT to try the new Bud Light Lime! Can I just tell you, it's really delish?! I'm not a big beer girl, but I don't do margaritas (sorry Kenny), but I did try this BL LIme this week and it's really good...it's nice and light with a great lime taste...it comes in a clear bottle so you can see the bubbles....I know that's silly, but I do like to look at it...I've always put lime in my brewski, and to get it all together is what I'm talking about!!! It's Bud Light Lime....it just came out, but you can get it any where now...make sure you order lots of chips and salsa...and DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE PLEASE!

Crack is whack Paula!

So, the final five American Idols sings songs of Neil Diamond...boring, right? Of course, my fave David Cook was awesome, as was Syesha. Jason and Brooke were painful and Archie, was, well, Archie. Ryan was annoying as usual...I even heard that Idol may be "testing" to see how if Seacrest is to blame for falling ratings. Dude does have too many irons in the fire, no wonder he's grumpy all the time. Anywho, what was Paula smoking? The kids were singing two songs each and Paula, Randy and Simon were supposed to wait til after BOTH songs to critique. Then, Ryan throws them a curve ball, and lines up the five after performance number one for a "quick comment." Check out what happens next...

Poor girl, got all confused....so who goes home? I wouldn't be sad at all if it were anyone but David Cook....Archie maybe? Not yet. Should be Jason or Brooke. We'll see...

Kenny "gits r done!" despite broken foot!

This is exactly why I think Kenny Chesney deserves any "Entertainer of the Year" award he's nominated for. Before he hits the stage Saturday night in Columbia, South Carolina, his foot gets caught between an elevator lift and the stage, breaking several bones. Ouchy! Good thing he has plenty of margaritas to ease the pain!

http://www.cmt.com/news/country-music/1586341/kenny-chesney-sustains-injury-during-south-carolina-concert.jhtml

Get well soon Kenny! How have you hurt yourself on the job? I am just way too klutzy. Yanked out my entire fingernail once when I was a bank teller. Another time at the company softball game, I got hit in the mouth with the ball and didnt' think any thing of it til some of my friends looked in shock as my front tooth was knocked backward! Try finding a dentist at 5pm on a Friday! I did tho, and he pulled it back in place, but the trauma "killed" it anyway. Had to have a root canal! Where's the margaritas when I needed it?
