Brad Paisley Sets a CMA Record

Brad Paisley's spinning a lot of plates lately. Not only is he once again going to co-host the CMA's with Carrie Underwood November 10th on ABC, he's also up for the male vocalist of the year award. Brad's been nominated for a CMA every year since 2000 putting him at number three on the all time nomination list with 52. George Strait has the most with 81 and Alan Jackson is second with 79. As if he's not busy enough, Brad and Bon Jovi are both performing free next month as part of Alabama's "Concerts For The Coast" event series, to help bring attention and tourists back to the Alabama Gulf Coast. Miranda Leads the Pack for the CMA's

Miranda Lambert's face couldn't have been more excited today on Good Morning America as she and Dierks Bentley made the final nomination announcements for the 44th annual Country Music Association Awards. Miranda snagged a total of nine nominations, including the much coveted Entertainer of the Year, female vocalist, album of the year for Revolution and musical event. Those are in addition to her five noms announced yesterday. Dierks got a nod for male vocalist and album of the year. Lady Antebellum picked up a nomination for Entertainer to add to their found nominations. Read more here. The CMA's air on ABC November 10th and will be hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood. Miranda, Lady A Lead CMA Noms

Miranda Lambert and Lady Antebellum are leading the way in nominations for the 44th annual CMA Awards this year. CMT.com says Justin Moore and Chris Young got up early to make the announcements for seven of the categories this morning from the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Miranda and Dierks Bentley will reveal the other five categories tomorrow on Good Morning America in New York. Miranda got five nods including single, video and song of the year for "the House that Built Me" and "White Liar." Lady A has been nominated four times for vocal group of the year, single, song and video of the year for "Need You Now." This year's CMA Awards show takes place Nov. 10 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will host the event live on ABC. Read all about it here.

Doug Stone Busted for DUI

Sounds like he might be living out one of his country songs. Remember Doug Stone? He was really big in the 90's with hits like "I'd Be Better off in a Pine Box" and "Why Didn't I Think of That?" is probably asking those questions today. CMT.com says Doug was arrested for DUI in Gallatin, Tenn., early last Tuesday morning. Local officers were notified about a possible intoxicated driver, said The Tennessean, and Doug was pulled over about 5am. He was released on $3000 bond and will be in court October 5th.

Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley Back to Host CMA's

We love us some Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley! So much so, the duo has been asked back to host this year's Country Music Association Awards Show on ABC, November 10th in Nashville! Last year, Carrie made some 10 costume changes but says there's no way she can top that! CMT.com reports Brad likened the CMA's to another big awards show, "I think it's our Oscars. Taylor Swift's new video for her sure to be smash "Mine" makes its official debut tomorrow evening at 8:30pm on CMT, VH-1 and MTV.

The Stork Visits James Otto

Add James Otto to the rapidly growing list of proud country Papas!! The singer's publicist told the Associated Press James and his wife Amy became the proud parents of their first child last night in Nashville. Ava Katherine Otto made her debut at 9:23pm weighing 8 lbs., 2 oz. and 19 1/2 inches long. James says, "She is beautiful like her Mama, and I am already wrapped around her tiny finger." Read all about it here. The timing couldn't have been better. James has been on tour with Toby Keith and Trace Adkins for most of the summer and got home this weekend just in time for Ava's arrival. You probably know his smash hit, "Just Got Started Loving You" that put him on the charts. Look for new music, "Shake What God Gave Ya" in stores September 14th.

Toby Keith Has Strong Words About Underage Drinking

A ruckus last week at a Toby Keith show in New York resulted in the arrest of 42 people, who were really enjoying themselves. Nope, it wasn't the country superstar's fault, he was just doing his show at the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center in Darien Lake. Let's just say, some folks were way overserved, and 36 of them were charged with underaged drinking. Sprinkle in some physical assault, trespassing and harassment charges throughout and it makes for a "memorable" evening. But Toby tells the Boot the issues started way before Friday night's show, "I think most of the problems that kids have start at home. All those things come from underneath your roof at your house ... At some point you've just got to practice tough love and make them pay for it." Read more here. Strong words, no?

Country Stars Takeover "Today" Show This Week

Check out some of your fave country music stars all week long on the "Today" show...hour number four. Starting today, host Hoda Kotb will be joined by Blake Shelton. Tuesday will be Martina McBride, Wednesday John Rich, Thursday Trisha Yearwood and Friday, Josh Turner. Was most def LOL-ing this morning when I saw Miranda Lambert's tweet about Blake's appearance today, "Blake is hosting the today show with Hoda....Tune in to watch the train wreck!!:)" While it was fun to be on vacation in sunny Florida last week, I was bummed to miss the Blake Shelton show at the Fraze last Thursday and now even MORE bummed when I heard he brought out his honey Miranda to sing a few songs! Grrr...I'm such a loser! Aw well! Make sure you listen every morning for your chance to Beat the Box Office all week long for 5-4-3-2-1 row seats to see Miranda and Eric Church at the Nutter Center October 9th!

Taylor Swift's "Mine" Officially Out!

Taylor Swift was no doubt bummed when a poor quality version of her new single "Mine" got leaked before it's scheduled August 16th debut. She tweeted yesterday, "I landed in Japan (where she's on tour) and got 20 texts and looked at iTunes and got tears in my eyes. And so, we begin again :)" Listen to "Mine" here. To me, it sounds pretty much like all of Taylor's stuff, about love and hope, etc. But it's a more grown up version. Bye bye high school, hello college! The opening lyrics is "You were in college, working part-time, waiting tables/Left a small town and never looked back." I was wondering if she would be able to get beyond the teenaged angst and it appears from "Mine" she has. While the "bootleg" copy may have been a record label "leak" as some say to boost interest, there is some good news. Since the song officially came out Wednesday afternoon, it's zoomed quickly to the top of ITunes. Read more about it. Taylor's "Speak Now" album is out October 25th, unless it's leaked early!

Kenny Chesney's Bald Head: Been There, Done That

Bald is beautiful! Just ask Kenny Chesney. He should know, cause he started losing his hair in high school! Kenny's gonna be the cover boy on this Sunday's Parade Magazine. He says when he was playing football at the age of 17, he'd take his helmet off and find hair inside and ask himself, "what's going on?" He said it did bother him in college, but not now, cause now that his friends are starting to catch up and "are freaking out", he takes a "been there, done that" attitude cause he "went thru all that in high school." Kenny also talks about his upcoming documentary The Boys Of Fall, where he follows the game from pee wee to college to the pros. The Boys Of Fall will air on ESPN this fall.

Taylor Swift Snags MTV Nomination: Kanye Beware!

Taylor Swift is a busy gal these days. She was the only country artist to be nominated for an MTV Video Music Award for "Fifteen." You may remember last year's Kanye West debacle when he interrupted Taylor's acceptance speech! The awards are on Sunday, September 12th. Taylor's new single "Mine" is set to be released August 16th. Her third album, "Speak Now" doesn't come out til October 25th, but if you are just bursting with excitement and cannot wait til then, tune in to the "CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock" September 1st at 8pm on ABC to hear Taylor give a sneak preview of the tune. People says she filmed the performance last month in Nashville during the CMA Festival. Taylor's inspiration for her very first hit, Tim McGraw, will be hosting the show. Also scheduled to appear: Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, Rascal Flatts, Brad Paisley, Reba McEntire and many others. Read more here. Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton Lose a Furry Friend

Some folks like me who don't have human children, consider our pets our furry kids. My beloved Cody will be gone seven years this week and I still miss him so desperately. My heart goes out to Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton whose baby "Steve" was killed in an accident over the weekend. Miranda wrote on her Twitter page "please send prayers to our family. We lost our puppy Steve yesterday (Saturday) in an accident. He is happy in heaven now." Her fiance Blake, who is normally a cutup on Twitter, was very somber, "Worst day for me in a longtime. Rest in peace Steve ..." The Boot says Blake rescued Steve from a shelter. Read more about it here.

Jimmy Wayne Walk for Foster Kids a Success

Congrats to Jimmy Wayne! He triumphantly finished his seven month 1700 mile walk in Phoenix yesterday on a broken foot. Jimmy started his "Meet Me Halfway" journey in Nashville on New Year's Day to raise awareness for foster kids, who are in danger of aging out of the program. Jimmy is a product of the foster care system himself, after a caring couple took him at the age of 16, homeless and helpless. Jimmy received much support on his trek thru his website and fans who walked with him. "It's been worth it, one step at a time," Jimmy told the Tennessean. Read more here.
