American Idol fave (not mine tho) David Archuleta got some bad news. He won't be able to attend his Senior Prom this weekend in Utah. Boo hoo. Idol rules pretty much say you're their slave til the bitter end. That's why Brooke White missed her sister's wedding a few weeks ago.
But Taylor Swift, who had been homeschooled during her last years in high school, go to go to prom thanks to MTV's "Once Upon a Prom." Out of 50-eligible mens...she selected Tuscaloosa Hillcrest High School Senior Whit Wright as her date...picked him up in her tour bus, she did! See the pix!...Aww...they are very cute together!

Sigh...I didn't get asked to Prom...but I'm not bitter...I'm just sayin'....

So, last night American Idol Gives Back is on for two and a half hours! The message is a tremendous one..raising money and awareness for unfortunate and sick kids in Africa and America....It's amazing to see how giving celebrities can be for such a wonderful cause. Tonight, the results show is supposed to send one of the final eight home. I say that, knowing we got duped last year. Speaking of duped, you guys know David A is not my fave...just something about him that doesn't ring true. This is not a witch hunt at all. I just think a kid that talented will get his due no matter what. Let someone else have the glory of winning Idol. Archie is only 17 for pete's sake. But my prob with him is his "aw shucks" insincerity. Give me a break! He has no idea he's talented? Not after winning Star Search Jr and touring foreign countries to perform? No clue? Then Tuesday's songs of inspiration plays right into his strengths. He comes across as seeming to have had trouble deciding on a song, when in fact it was a no brainer. It appears ol' Dave was very familiar with his song selection...Robbie Williams' "Angel" because he had done it before!! See for yourself!

The kids got chops..but has had plenty of time to perfect it, hm? As Randy would say, "just keepin' it real, dawg!"

Here's my penny's worth take on the final eight for American Idol singing "songs on inspiration!" First, Randy and Simon seemed to trade places, Randy was the grumpy "pitchy" one, Simon was fair, for the most part, but did you notice he did NOT do his trademark snarky "sorry!" at all? Now, Paula. Maybe she was inspired by Dolly Parton last week, maybe she dug deep in her 80's "Straight Up" days closet. In any case, her strapless, um, top, was tootight, cutting across her chest so much I had trouble breathing!!! Now to the singers....my top two...Jason for his ukelele rendition of "Over the Rainbow" and believe it or not, Kristy Lee for a decent performance of Martina's "Anyway." David Barfuleta (stop the hating, this is what I think...mkay?) turned in his predictable top performance. I know he's talented, but it's expected so much, the kid's kind of like a car alarm, don't you think? Pretty much the same thing with Brooke. Girlfriend needs to give up the hippie chick thing. David Cook (my fave) was just ok...I didn't really get his song. Michael Johns was better than Randy said...when the Dawg told Michael this competition is "not about dreams but about finding the best talent." I thought, "uh, hello? Aren't dreams involved?" Methinks someone whizzed in Randy's Wheaties yesterday. Now, to my bottom two...Syesha...she needs to stop with the Diva stuff....she keeps trying to do all the "first name" singers like Whitney and Fantasia, and just being ok. I think it's kind of self-promoting of her to take on that kind of singer. Syesha is very likeable, but I'm over her....then there's Carly. I used to really like her. But now the big giant multi colored tattoos scare me and she often looks like she just rolled out of bed to perform. I think Simon was right, she DID sound angry when she sang her "inspirational" Queen song, but the thing that put me on edge was when she's trying to explain away her performance by claiming Simon's look "threw her off" in the middle of the song. What a cheap shot! Don't be blaming Simon if you lost it girl! My bracket is all screwed up anyway because Kristy is still here. I think Syesha is going home this week. If anyone DOES go home. I say that because remember last year during "Idol gives back" week, Ryan scared Jordin by making it look like she was going home, then saying that they wouldn't do that during this week. So, we'll see...

Did you hear David Cook (my fave) got taken to the hospital after last night's show? Apparently he has extremely high blood pressure! And before the show, Ryan got a boo boo on his knee and was hobbling around...guess that what happens when you wear high heels :)
here's the scoopage!

Who's going home tonight? I think Rami should, but she might be in the bottom three with Brooke, Jason or Syesha!

So, another American Idol scandal? David Hernandez was supposedly a stripper at a men's club? Ew! I guess he even performed in the "altogether" if you know what I mean, like nekkid?
Here's what I think...the rules have changed on Idol. If Frenchie got kicked off a few years ago for posing for pictures on an adult site, then Antonella Barba doesn't get kicked out for having nude pictures of her on the internet...who knows what will happen to David? I think he should be shown the door. Come on!
Maybe Antonella's pictures were a lark that ended up on the internet after her friends or some former boyfriend got jealous? But if Hernandez truly was/is a stripper, isn't that getting naked by choice? Again, ew! For that reason, he needs to go. Same with Frenchie, she chose to be on the website and if David chose to go-go dance, then he can just go back to it. My nephews watch this show!
I've always liked the fact that AI is a family oriented show...where everyone can sit down together and root for their favorite person! So, what's it gonna be now? Oooh, I love Archie! No, let's vote for the stripper dude! Forget it. This is a chance for AI to earn back some cred with us and do the right thing. Chances are, it will all blow over and no one will say anything about it. Or, the kid will mysteriously get voted off asap. In either case, I'm over it. I want my Idol to be a good person. They don't have to be Osmond-like squeaky clean, but they do have to have some integrity and morals. Read about it here. http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1582721/20080304/id_0.jhtml
See ya, Dancin' Dave!
