Slip sliding awayyy...
OMG! What a terrible morning to drive into work! Dang! This is one of those times I'm glad I come in when I do at 3:30am...missed all that nasty junk on the roads! I am the biggest most ginormous chicken driving in winter weather....not only do my friends the deer run out in front of me all the time, that four letter word S-N-O-W puts me in a panic. I have had my share of white knuckle driving when I drove in from Springfield every day. Now, I live in Centerville, so it's just minor panic, maybe pink knuckle.
But the Tuesday before New Year's my friend Jack and I were doing the pre-pre game show for the Dayton Flyers Basketball team on our sister station WHIO. We do it at Fricker's on 725...so remember that night it was tres icy again? I was ok driving there, almost lost it a few times walking in the parking lot. Long story short, Jack and I are going to the game after the show, so we decide to take the highway to UD Arena. I drive, cause I'm a control freak...we get on 75 north and I ask Jack, "Is it windy, cause the car is shimmying." He says it is...we pass 725, and some yay-hoo is going to pass me, I see him come up on the left, and then.....I see him behind me...SPINNING IN CIRCLES!!! I'm hyperventilating, "Jack, Jack,..that guy, uh, uh..." Jack calmly says, "well, his headlights are pointing this way, I think he's ok." Yeah, as ok as you can be in the ditch! So, white knuckles blazing, I tell Jack we're getting off at the NEXT exit, pronto. We took surface streets to the Arena, NBD! By the time the game ended, everything was ok...but boy was I skeered!
Anything like that happen to you?
