With apologies to my real life man of over nine years, I have a new boyfriend...well actually it's what I call a Cougar Crush...on Dierks Bentley! My friend Ginger doesn't like this much, since she was crushing on him first...but hey, better late than never right? Last Friday, I went to the Preble County Fair to intro DB's show. Not expecting a whole lot, cause artists are always super busy, and never care much for radio people, I took the station camera and went backstage before the show to snap some shots. Now, keep in mind, we DO get to go backstage, but very rarely hang with the artists...till this time :) Somehow, I got in line to get meet Dierks...usually it's, shake your hand, say "nice to meet you" and pose. But this time, I said, "hey Dierks, good to see you again." I swear to you, he double takes, says, "you're Nancy, right? From Dayton?" I'm flummoxed...I say, "are you serious?" He says, "sure I remember you...give me a hug girl!" Duh, ask that twice...all the other cougars and kittens were throwing me daggers...too bad! So we chat about his upcoming new baby, his dog Jake and how I was SO happy he's growing his hair long again. girls dig curls Dierks! So, we get whisked away from him so he can keep doing the star thing...me thinking my moment is over. Nope...as he's being escorted by security back to his bus, he brushes those guys off and comes over to us AGAIN! I'm sweating now...he hangs out about 10 minutes, just talking regular everyday stuff. I notice he has a Dixie cup full of some purple liquid...admits, "I"m a wino!" Again, I scream like a little girl, "Me too!" so he offers me some, I accept, then he checks his watch, looks at the bus, and honestly now, says, "I don't think we have time...daggone it!" Love you Dierks...sigh... that will last me til the next time...maybe!
