OSU fans---what a disappointment!
Sad my Dayton Flyers lost last night to the Buckeyes...but OSU played better, wish I could say the same thing for their fans. Value City Arena was sold out...over 19,000 strong and there was a good representation of the Flyer Faithful, moi included. I know we were playing in the Bucks house, but I was really shocked by the blatant disrespect and downright meanness directed toward our pep band, the players, Coach Gregory and to us. I finally had to say something when these rowdy dudes in their 30's and 40's were dropping f-bombs at our team when little kids were sitting right in front of them. They did cut back...and alcohol was not even an excuse. Now, believe me, I'm all about being a fan and have been known to talk some trash at times, but not to the point of being so hurtful as to call someone's mother a name! Come on! These players are still kids themselves! I'm bummed UD lost, but not to the point of calling people names. Even my friend Paul Keels, the Voice of the Buckeyes, said OSU fans were a "little out of hand." I wish them luck in New York next week. I am a big OSU football fan...and support the basketball team too...but in no way am I a fan of their fans. I guess that's why the call Value City, the "nuthouse." In the meantime, I applaud Brian Roberts, Jimmy Binnie and Andres Sandoval as they end their careers as UD Flyers, with dignity, professionalism and respect. They are young men we can all be proud of!

What others are saying
- Bball gameOSU fan! I do agree Buckeye fans are the very intense...so are UD, Pitt, Xavier, etc...any fans when you play in "their house." The UD Red Scare student section can be pretty intimidating, and I have no control over our Pep Band...but as adults, we do have control and responsibility to set a good example, don't you agree? I have been to several OSU games, at the nuthouse and the 'shoe. As for asking me if I honestly thought UD would win, of course I did. Didn't you think the Buckeyes would win against Florida in the NCAA final last year? Or in the last two BCS championships? If you are a fan who loves your team, you will always be intense and always expect them to win. A little grace is always nice too. Thanks for writing in...and I'm hoping for another Buckeye Florida showdown in the NIT. In case you're wondering..I'll be shouting OH-IO!
- Basketball GameHave you ever been to an Ohio State basketball or football game? I don't agree with the "f" bombs, but, at the same time, Buckeye fans are the most intense fans in the world! And for the UD band to come into Ohio State's arena, constantly play ON TOP of Ohio State's band (and during the entrances of the Buckeye players) was just taunting our great Buckeye fans. And from where I was sitting (in the middle of your Flyer Faithful) they were just as rude! I'm sorry you don't recognize real intensity when you see and feel it -- and the fact that it makes you uncomfortable. Remember, you were at an Ohio State game at Ohio State, not UD Arena. You should try a football game at the Shoe -- talk about intensity. Did you really think Dayton had a chance?! Thanks!
