Q. What needs to be tested?
A. Hormone levels need to be measured; Cortisol, Adrenal glands and the Thyroid if indicated. Required tests are determined during a consultation.

Q. Where do I get a test kit?
A. You can get a test kit online at www.HappyHormoneCottage.com or by visiting The Happy Hormone Cottage in Centerville, Ohio. Our address is The Happy Hormone Cottage, 25 W Franklin (behind Joli Boutique), Centerville, OH 45459.

Q. Where is the testing done?
A. You do the test yourself at home. Then you mail the testing kit to ZRT Labs in the envelope provided.

Q. How much does the testing cost?
A. Testing typically costs $240-$299 depending on tests required.

Q. Will my insurance cover testing & prescriptions?
A. Insurance typically covers 50-80% of the testing costs. The monthly prescription is just the cost of co-pay or without insurance the prescription cost is typically $40-$60 per month, depending on the therapy.

Q. How often do I need to be tested?
A. This varies by the individual. Typically symptoms will change with aging.

Q. What if my doctor doesn't work with compounded hormone therapy.
A. Change your doctor. We have a list of local doctors who do work with compounded hormone therapy at our website www.HappyHormoneCottage.com. For people further afield there is a link on our site where you can find doctors across the country.      

Q. How long does it take to work?
A. Natural hormone replacement therapy is a process, so it depends on the individual. Some people experience a quicker effect than others, but the general timeframe tends to be anywhere from 3 weeks to 3-6 months. The beauty of customized hormone therapy is that it is totally individualized, so it does depend on the individual.

Q. Are these hormones safe?
A. Natural compounded hormones are safe and effective.

Q. Can I take hormones if I have breast cancer or have breast cancer in my family?
A. Yes, but you must see a doctor first. We can then work with your doctor.

Q. Why are "compounded" bio identical hormones better than regular bio identical hormones.
A. Compounded bio identical hormones are better because they are made specifically for you. That is why the test is so important. BHRT, or regular bio identical hormones, are ”one size fits most”.
